Yayoi Kusama is many things; a sculptor, performer, filmmaker and avant garde artist to name a few. In the painting world, she is known for her repeated motifs that evoke a psychedelic, bright colored imagery. In researching Yayoi, look at her installations using the bright color red. We took inspiration from her installation “All the Eternal Love I have for Pumpkins.” Take time to learn more about Yayoi and her unique way of creating art! 
Activity: Create a garden using shapes and the color red! Yayoi’s use of bold colors and polka dots inspired our activity. This is a fun and creative project that will take some imagination! 
Materials Needed:
● White cardstock or any white paper
● Pencil
● Red marker and red colored pencil
● Scratch paper (For sketching ideas)​​​​​​​
Directions:
● Sketch your idea of a whimsical garden.
● Using red markers, and pencil, fill in your sketch, creating highlights and lowlights to make your images pop.
