Questions to ask yourself:
● Why is texture so important when creating an art piece?
● Does texture invoke feelings?

Our project takes inspiration from ceramics artist, Brian Jensen, and his use of texture. We will focus on different textures and how these textures make us feel. How does adding something like dots change what your sculpture looks like? Do lines make it feel differently? What about a combination of the two? There are many shapes, patterns, and effects you can use to add texture and depth to your piece. As you work, you will notice that each texture will give your piece a whole new feeling. We provide some starting points below, but the rest of this sculptural piece is up to you!

Materials:
● Sketchbook
● Pencil and eraser
● Material of your choice to create texture on (clay, foam, paper, cloth, literally anything you have in your house)
● Medium (paint, pen, ink, crayon, thread, etc.)
● Tools (clay tool, fork, knife, end of a paintbrush, anything)
Directions:
● On the sketch paper, write down any ideas you have for a sculpture and what materials, mediums, and tools you will need.
● On the sketch paper, draw different types of textures you want to try experimenting with on your sculpture (lines, shapes, dots etc.)
● This art piece is all yours, so let texture express how you feel.
● In our art piece, we used fruit and ink to create our textured sculpture.

Be inspired, get creative, and, most importantly, have fun!
