Did you know that you can create art using one continuous line? The line in a continuous line drawing is uninterrupted from start to finish. As you create your work, your drawing tool continuously touches the surface of the paper. Look at the work of artist Jasper Johns for inspiration for your own continuous line drawing.
Materials:
● Paper
● Pen or sharpie
● Colored pencils
Directions:
1 - Take a look outside or around your house. What shapes, lines, and colors do you see?
2 - On your paper, draw a continuous line, without stopping, creating whatever things inspired you. Your lines will create both organic and geometric shapes.
3 - Keep the line going until you’ve incorporated everything you envisioned.
4 - Color in the shapes you created on the page.
5 - What objects did you create?
You can create an eye-spy game out of this piece, having people try to find objects you’ve hidden in your drawing. See our example for ideas. Remember, you’re the artist here! Get inspired, be creative, and, most importantly, have fun!
