This week we are going to make spooky fright books! All you need to create these books are leftover Halloween decorations and old hardback books you have around the house. This is a perfect way to recycle your old decorations and have fun doing it.

Materials:
● Old hardback books
● Tissue paper (if you want to create a leathery look)
● Mod Podge
● Paint
● Paint brushes or foam brushes
● Halloween decorations
● Hot glue gun
● Scissors
● Paper plate for paint
● Paper towel to wipe brushes off
● Cup of water to rinse off brushes
Directions (to make the “Death Book”):
1 - Take tissue paper and crinkle it up in your hands. Get a foam brush or paint brush and brush Mod Podge on the front of the book. Take the crinkled up tissue paper, place it on the Mod Podge, and rub it in carefully. The more wrinkled the paper, the more old it will look. Repeat the Mod Podge on the spine and back of the book.
2 - When it dries, take scissors and trim off the excess tissue paper.
3 - Take brown and black paint and paint over the crinkled tissue paper with a foam brush or paint brush.
4 - Take antique gold paint and your paint brush or foam brush, and sporadically brush over the brown and black painted tissue paper.
5 - Let that dry
6 - When it is completely dry, you can add whatever Halloween decorations you have. Glue these decorations on the tissue paper with a hot glue gun.
7 - If you want an even older look, you can tea stain your pages or carefully burn the edges with a lighter (with adult supervision) to add a little antiquity.

This project is so fun to create, so get inspired, be creative, and have fun!
