For this art project, we will be learning to add texture to our drawings. Specifically, we will be focusing on something called implied texture. Implied texture uses patterns to create something that looks like something it isn’t. For example, a pot that looks cracked and rough, but is actually smooth to the touch. A little bit of trickery perfectly befitting the Halloween season!

Materials:
● Pencil
● White cardstock or any kind of paper you have
● Sketch paper
● Pen
● Permanent marker
Directions:
1 - Take your sketch paper and use your pencil to draw different objects that are Halloween based. For our example, we took the classic Jack-o-lantern. When you have a sketch that you like, apply that idea to your cardstock paper or another paper of your choice.
2 - With the pen start drawing different patterns on the Jack-o-lanterns. This creates texture. You can also create texture with the type of ink mark you make. If you press hard with the pen it creates depth and shadow. The lighter you use the pen it will create a highlight on the Jack-o-lanterns.
3 - Take the permanent marker and create a pattern around the jack-o-lanterns. You want to cover the negative space to create more depth and dimension.

This project is so fun to create, so get inspired, be creative, and have fun!
