Our highlighted work this week is artist Steve Vistaunet’s piece Remember. He sees his home as a sanctuary, full of love and solid values. The world around him, however, feels like a different story. To try and resolve this, he and his wife thought of ways to share their home values with the world and make it a more loving place! With all the time we spend inside right now, and with the holidays just around the corner, what better time to turn our thoughts and hearts toward others.

Remember by Steve Vistaunet

The project this week is another form of art journaling, creating a blend of words and pictures to express love toward others. Similar to the piece Remember mentioned above, this piece is one way to communicate the values you cherish with the world, using a mix of words and drawings to bring that message to life.

Materials:
● Art Journaling book or paper
● Pen
● Pencil
● Eraser
● Colored pencils
● Sketch paper
Directions:
1 - On the sketch paper, use a pencil to write down values that make your home a sanctuary to you. Sketch the design, words, and pictures you want to show and experiment with combining them. This is to help you visualize your final piece before you create it.
2 - Take your art journal or paper and use a pencil to start drawing what you envisioned from your sketch paper.
3 - Use a pen to darken and highlight the words and drawings.
4 - Use colored pencils to fill in the drawings.
5 - Take a pen and doodle a design around your drawings, connecting them to the words.

Be inspired, be creative, and have fun!
