Activity: Create an illustrated story page! This fun activity lets you explore your imagination and creativity. Our inspiration comes from the work of English illustrator and cartoonist, Sir John Tenniel. He is most often remembered for his illustration of Lewis Carroll’s book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. You can create your story page however you like. We have included a list of the materials we used in our example.
Materials:
● Cardstock
● Colored paper
● Markers
● Glue
● Scissors
● Scrapbook Paper
● Magazines
● Colored Pencils
● Pen
● Pencil
● Piece of paper to sketch
Directions:
1 - What will your story be about? Is it funny, mystical, or realistic? Who will be your characters in your story? Think about how you would write your story to help you find your tone and assist in the creative process of creating your story page.
2 - Sketch your ideas out.
3 - Decide what materials you want to use on your final version of your story page.
4 - Think about if you want to layer your page and give it dimension or if you want it flat like a coloring page.
5 - Start creating!
Remember, you’re the artist here! Get inspired, be creative, and, most importantly, have fun!
