Before starting this art project, view Mckenna Goades work in our student exhibition and look at some of the other artists who have utilized text in their work. This project focuses on how you can communicate through art through words and symbols. Your method of communicating may be literal or abstract. You can also think about what colors and shapes best represent what you want to communicate.
Materials:
● Sketchbook
● Pencil and eraser
● Whatever material you want to use
● Any medium - pencil, ink, paint, crayons, etc.
Directions:
● Look up Mckenna Goades work and the other artists we mentioned for some inspiration.
● On the sketch paper, write down the words you want to use then draw what you want your artwork to look like.
● On the material you chose, draw the words you wish to communicate.
● When your artwork is finished, show your friends and family.
Questions to ask yourself:
● What artist inspired your text art?
● What text did you choose and why?
● How did you choose the form in which your text was used?
