Our free-form art project is inspired by UVU student artist, Chalise Hill and her piece Flowers He Bought. The focus of this project is to be experimental in your design approach. There are no steps for sketching and planning in this project. Instead, let your hands create a free-flowing work. You can view Chalise Hill’s work and our example for inspiration. Remember, not all art needs to be intentional!

Chalise Hill, Flowers He Bought

Materials:
● 2 pieces of paper (any color)
● Ballpoint Pen
● Scissors
Directions:
1 - Get a piece of paper and fold it any way you like.
2 - Cut the folded paper however you like, making patterns, shapes, and lines.
3 - Place the pieces of paper you cut onto an additional piece of paper.
4 - Using the ballpoint pen, trace the cut out paper. Trace inside all of the cuts you made to make a new pattern on the bottom paper.
5 - When you are done, take a step back and look at what you have created! Ask yourself how this piece made you feel during creation and it and how it makes you feel looking at it now?

This piece is solely about inspiration, so take your time, free your mind, and have fun!
