There are many wonderful artists that excel in painting flowers and gardens including Georgia O’Keeffe, Claude Monet, Maria Moninckx, Alida Withoos, Judith Leyster, Emil Nolde, and Johanna Helena Herolt, to name a few! Spring reminds us of how flowers brighten our lives. In this project, we will be drawing inspiration from art and nature to make our own flower exhibitions.
Materials:

● White paper or colored paper
● Colored pencils, markers, or crayons
● Scissors
● Painters tape, scotch tape, or masking tape
Directions:

● Draw and color a flower on white or colored paper. For ideas about flower colors and shapes, you can look at what is blooming outside in your neighborhood or look online for art inspiration.

● After you have drawn your flower, cut it out with scissors and use it as a template to trace and cut more flowers. Don’t forget the leaves and stems!

● Tape the flowers to your window in whatever pattern you like, trying to make the tape as invisible as you can. Try folding your tape behind each shape for less visibility and easy removal. If you would like to share your flower exhibition with your neighbors, consider taping your flowers to the outside of your window. You can also tape your flower garden to a wall inside your home. A no-tape option is to arrange your cut-out flowers on a table or floor.

Flowers Brighten Our Day!

Receiving flowers is a great way to brighten someone’s day. Write a note on your cut-out flowers or your flower drawing and share your artwork with your neighbors! You can also plant your favorite flowers. What are some other ways you can share your flower artwork with others? We can’t wait to see what your exhibits look like!
