Our highlighted artist this week, James Rees, created a piece called The Turn of Life and Death. This piece talks about a connection he felt to a summer in Japan. That summer, he took part in many ceremonies and rituals that caused him to reflect upon the rituals in his own life. Like James Rees, we all have connections to meaningful times in our lives. This week’s art project is about reflecting on those connections and translating that into art.

In our example, Birds Eye View, educator Lisa Jensen uses watercolor and ink to explore her connection with religious symbolism. “It’s about how I see symbols of peace reflected in the world around me and how that changes the way I look at and interact with the world.”
