November is great time to show our family, friends, and neighbors, how much we care about them! In challenging times, words of encouragement and care, or an act of kindness can go a long way. Our giving leaf project is a great way to be thoughtful and to spread some kindness. This project isn’t limited to just this fall, you can customize it to any occasion when you want to show support and gratitude for someone in your life.

Materials:
● The printable leaf (click here)
● Pencil or pen
● Scissors
● Paper
Directions:
1 - Using a computer, access the printable leads found in the link included in this post. Print off as many leaves as you need. If you don’t have a printer, draw a leaf on a piece of paper. Write down all the ways you would like to help others and show gratitude for them on the printed leaf paper. During the pandemic, it can be hard to see people in a face to face setting, so think about how can you express your appreciation or offer help others that follow Covid 19 safety proposals.
Ideas for gratitude include: words of encouragement, showing appreciation and thanks for a family member, teacher, friend, or neighbor, wishing someone a good day, and even a promise to help with a chore when it is safe to do so. Some outside ideas may include picking up trash around your neighborhood or finding other ways to care for the environment. You can also include a note on your leaf that encourages the recipient to pay it forward.
2 - Cut out the leaves.

3 - Share your leaves by taking a photo and sharing it with others, or safely drop the note in a mailbox, or at a front door. If you have pledged an act of kindness to benefit your neighborhood, after you have completed your pledge, leave the leaf behind with written words of what you did or share with pictures on social media. Don’t forget to share your project with the museum too!
